Nature and culture

The picturesque village of Sarnen is the capital of Canton Obwalden and is situated at Lake Sarnen, nestled between forests, meadows and pastureland, and encircled by a marvellous mountain landscape.
Sarnen has a train station and various Postauto connections. At the northern end of Lake Sarnen a place for mooring boats can be found. The village centre is dotted with small shops, hotels, restaurants and cafés. The town also has a canton hospital, a senior citizen centre, and practices of various physicians and dentists.

Lage

In the heart of Switzerland

The municipality of Sarnen encompasses the hamlets of Bitzighofen, Kägiswil, Kirchhofen, Ramersberg, Stalden and Wilen/Oberwilen.

Lake Sarnen and Lake Wichel are situated partially inside the municipality of Sarnen.
 
With a full interchange at the A8 motorway, Sarnen is well connected. A trip to Lucerne takes only 20 minutes.
